The first phase of the program utilizes the strength-speed continuum to build the foundation. This phase includes: general preparation, work capacity, technique, and proper mechanics for multi-directional movements associated with sports.
Understand the why and how of the physiological adaptations behind the movement patterns associated with deceleration, change of direction, strength, reactive speed, and power.
In phase 2 of the program, we focus on rate of force development which is one of the key measures of explosive strength. In order to be an Elite athlete in any sport, you have to be able to develop the highest amount of force in the shortest time.

This program has training sessions scheduled 5x a week to encompass both strength and speed aspects. We recommend starting on Monday and doing the workouts consecutively through Friday.
If you have other training you have to go to such practice, games, etc. you can modify this by timing the heavy lifting days to be as far from the game days as possible. It’s okay to do some mechanic or running work a day prior to your games, but be conscious of how your body is feeling and adjust to meet that.
If you need to run less, do that. If you need to stretch or recover more do it. Ultimately listening to your body will be the best indicator of how and when you should be training.
This program has off days for 2 days of the week and that gives you some flexibility rest and recover. We recommend doing some sort of active recovery as well as going through mobility and flexibility routines. This includes things like foam rolling, barbell rolling, stretching, etc. and trying to loosen up areas that are tight or stiff.
The program is meant to be done in the off-season, but it does NOT mean you can’t do this in-season. The structure is actually very similar to what we do with our athletes during the season to help maintain strength.
In order to do this during the season, we recommend taking out the high frequency days in the program and only doing the more power and strength focused routines. This allows athletes to get the most bang for their buck and helps maintain over the season.
